Abstract: | In order to improve the effectiveness of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) response to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), the capabilities of the USMC will need to be matched to the demand created by future disasters. In this research, we study the USMC resources that are primarily responsible for the response, the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). We study recent HADR events to determine how demands were met by the USMC. We identify the supplies by examining both assets and capabilities. We explore significant gaps, if any, that can be improved by the USMC MEU. |
