The Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) currently has a large backlog of approximately 65,000 over-aged contracts, and this issue needs to be resolved to allow agencies to reach a workload steady state of closing out contracts. A cross-organization mitigation strategy with streamlined process improvements would preclude this situation from reoccurring and placing current funds at risk of use for cancelled bills.
