Abstract: Acquisition programs have inherent variability in their task durations, which often results in unforecasted completion delay. Using concepts from Lean Production and Lean Product Development, queues that are at the heart of these delays can be made visible and can be managed. Observing queues in acquisition programs can give early warning of project problems. Several techniques can be used to manage queues.
